With the Nocpix OMNI L19R Nocpix is introducing a completely new type of binoculars: the multispectral binoculars, which combine three different ways of observing in a single device. Digital day and night vision, thermal imaging and infrared night vision — no more lugging around extra monitors; everything in a single unit.

The OMNI is therefore aimed at a wide range of users: hunters, nature conservationists, wildlife spotters, birdwatchers and other outdoor enthusiasts who wish to observe their subjects both during the day and at night without having to carry around a range of different devices.

The OMNI L19R combines an impressive 8192 × 6144 8K digital sensor (1.2 μm pixel size) with a sensitive 384 × 288 thermal imaging sensor (12 μm, NETD ≤15 mK, 50 Hz frame rate). During the day, you can use the digital channel for a wide zoom range and natural colours with fine detail. When vegetation, twilight or darkness restrict normal visibility, you can switch to thermal imaging at the touch of a button. For complete darkness, there is the interchangeable IR lighting, available in 850 nm and 940 nm — so you can choose the night-vision solution that best suits your observation needs.

8K that makes all the difference:

The 8K digital sensor contains more than four times as many pixels as a standard 4K sensor. You’ll notice this most when you zoom in digitally: fine details such as feathers, fur and antlers remain much more recognisable. The digital camera features a 50mm F1.8 lens According to Nocpix, this captures around 23% more light than F2.0 and approximately 49% more than F2.2 — which is crucial for maintaining a usable, natural image even at dusk.

On the thermal imaging side, the L19R combines the 384 × 288 sensor with a fast 19mm f/0.9 lens and a base magnification of 1.5×. The wide field of view of 13.8 × 10.4 degrees This makes this model ideal when a clear overview and the ability to scan a larger area quickly are more important than maximum range.

From daylight to complete darkness:

OMNI works with three image processing algorithms which automatically adjust the digital display to suit the conditions: during the day, the emphasis is on detail; at twilight, on natural colour reproduction; and in very low light, the processing is optimised to extract as much information as possible from the remaining light. The proprietary Nocpix ISP algorithm processes both the digital and thermal images. Colour imaging is possible at light levels down to 0.001 lux, with a dynamic range of 140 dB.

Huge zoom range:

The zoom operates in precise increments of 0.5× and ranges from 3x to 18x magnification. By way of comparison: whilst 8x optical binoculars are comparable in terms of field of view to a 400mm lens, the OMNI, in 8x mode, provides an image comparable to that of a 705mm telephoto — and in 12x mode, in fact 1068 mm telephoto. Powerful electronic image stabilisation works from 1× magnification, for both the digital and thermal images. This ensures a steady image not only when zooming in at high magnification, but also when searching for and tracking animals.

Measuring, observing, sharing:

The integrated laser rangefinder has a range of up to 1,000 metres. This allows you to immediately determine how far away an animal, bird or object is — handy for keeping your distance without disturbing it, or getting close enough for a great telephoto shot. The 1,000 metres LRF When used in conjunction with thermal imaging, the L19R is one of the most comprehensive observation tools currently available.

Photos and videos are stored on 64 GB internal memory and can be easily transferred to a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi and the free Nocpix app. Within the app, videos can be cropped, merged or have their playback speed adjusted — directly in the field, without the need for a computer. The app also provides access to device settings, firmware updates, manuals and instructional videos.

Comfortable for long periods of observation:

Nocpix has deliberately designed the OMNI to have the shape and controls of a traditional pair of binoculars. The focus rings for digital and thermal imaging are located on the underside, within easy reach of your fingers whilst you’re holding the device. On the eyepiece side, a central zoom dial allows you to adjust the magnification without changing your grip. A short press of the button switches between the digital image and the thermal image.

The 12 mm diameter exit pupil makes it easy to quickly find the full view as soon as you raise the binoculars to your eyes. The image is displayed via a 0.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1600 × 1200. The casing is made from magnesium alloy and fitted with a comfortable, non-slip PVC grip.

Designed for long days outdoors:

The OMNI L19R measures 198 × 144 × 75 mm and weighs 900 grams without batteries. It is powered by two replaceable 18650 batteries — and then a really practical detail: polarity-free placement. It doesn’t matter which way round it is; that’s a real bonus in the dark. The OMNI also has a built-in battery. Together, these provide a maximum operating time of approximately 7.5 hours.
