What is a gas ram rifle?

A gas-powered rifle works in a similar way to a traditional spring rifle, but instead of a metal spring, this system uses a gas spring. It is contained in a sealed cylinder, usually filled with nitrogen, and provides a powerful but smooth firing action.

The technology behind the calm

During cocking – via the break-action, underlever or side lever – the gas spring is compressed. When you pull the trigger, this spring releases in one smooth movement. The result: a controlled explosion of air that propels the pellet out of the barrel with speed and stability. Because there is no metal-on-metal action, the shot remains quiet, vibration-free and extremely consistent.
