Gas rambuses – smooth, quiet and extremely reliable
At Barrel and Boar We understand that every shooter has their own preferences. While some swear by the classic character of a spring rifle, others opt for the sophisticated technology of the gas ram – and with good reason.
What is a gas ram rifle?
A gas-powered rifle works in a similar way to a traditional spring rifle, but instead of a metal spring, this system uses a gas spring. It is contained in a sealed cylinder, usually filled with nitrogen, and provides a powerful but smooth firing action.
The technology behind the calm
During cocking – via the break-action, underlever or side lever – the gas spring is compressed. When you pull the trigger, this spring releases in one smooth movement. The result: a controlled explosion of air that propels the pellet out of the barrel with speed and stability. Because there is no metal-on-metal action, the shot remains quiet, vibration-free and extremely consistent.
Why choose a gas ram?
The advantages are compelling:
- Consistent performance
No torsion or friction as with a steel spring, but a consistent bullet trajectory with every shot. - Shoot silently
No twang, no metallic resonance – just the pure blast of air. Ideal for those who want to shoot quietly without causing a disturbance. - Longer service life
Gas springs retain their strength longer and are less susceptible to wear or prolonged compression. - Low-maintenance
Fewer moving parts means less wear and tear and less chance of defects.
Who is the gas ram suitable for?
Whether you want to shoot recreationally in the garden or focus on precision in disciplines such as Field Target (FT) or Hunter Field Target (HFT) – A gas-operated rifle is an excellent choice for those who value comfort, reliability and peace of mind when shooting.
